WHO I AM
I am Anna Maria "TAB" Tabernik, a Christian, lifelong educator, and dedicated volunteer. I am the proud mother of two great children. My daughter, Holly, is a Forensic Phsychologistic at Augusta Regent University in Augusta, GA. My son, Nicholas, is Deputy Chief of Police in Dublin, Ohio. My world also includes three precious grandchildren, Austin (8), Avery (3), and Aurora Grace (8 weeks). Whether it has been my family or my community, serving others has brought fulfillment to my life. I enjoy solving problems and the satisfaction knowing that I am making the world around me a better place.
WHAT MAKES ME UNIQUE
My life in retirement has been centered around serving the residents of the Lowcountry and Beaufort County. The saying, "Now that I'm retired, I've never been busier," certainly applies to me. Over the past 10 years, I have invested my time, energy and passion into making our community a better place to live by serving as Chair of the Beaufort County Library Board of Trustees, VP on the Sun City Hilton Head Board of Directors, and District Coordinator for the AARP Foundation Tax Program, and Director on the Board of Staying Connected.
Throughout my life I've demonstrated a commitment to the essential core values of great public service: transparency, communication, accountability, and fiscal responsibility. These values were instilled in my children, currently serving others in the medical and law enforcement professions, and it is what Beaufort County can expect from me as their Councilwoman.
